    Trip to local gun store

So I went to a local gun store. Haven't been to one in a few months. With all the hype lately I was expecting to see empty shelves. No guns or ammo.
Well they had pretty much anything you wanted.
I saw lots of ammo BUT the one thing I did see that was surprising was you could only buy ammo with the purchase of a firearm. 2 box max.

The local WalMart is pretty much cleaned out. My local gun store is still stocked up fair on most things. Some powders like Varget, RL15, RL17 and RL19 are out of stock.
He still has lots of things in stock that are long gone on mail order sites. The advantage of a pretty well stocked store in a small rural town.

Went to two LGSs yesterday and they were pretty well picked over. One had some ammo, but only cuz they jacked up the price.

I've heard of at least one local store that has stock. You are allowed two boxes of ammo and they are tracking purchases to prevent hoarding.

I'm guessing the only reason they had that much ammo left is because.....

Several months ago when 5.7x28 ammo started getting scarce, I noticed a few gun shops would not sell 5.7 ammo unless you purchased a FiveseveN or a PS90.

That's why they've got so much, of course. Smart move, business-wise, by a shop seeking to (a) boost firearms sales, (b) keep ammo on the shelves for their customers, and (c) avoid the frenzied hoarding that would encroach on serving their customers.

Of course, those of us who shoot more than a box or two between gun purchases have plenty of need to have more ammo on-hand.

Of the two shops I frequent, one has all the ammo you need, but the firearms are picked over, the other one has everything you need. The owner of the second shop has been working like crazy to make sure he still has stock, and recently got a shipment of 300 PMAGs, along with ARs coming in every day. They are both rationing ammo, but since I am a regular customer, they'll let me buy what I want if nobody is there.

Stopped at LGS this week, nothing in AR type rifles, a few high cap mags left. Lots of hand guns but not much in defensive ammo. While I was there his supplier called to get his
order, most of what he needed was back ordered. He said most of his suppliers are the same. Glad I have most of what I want.

I went to the local store today seeing as it was Gun Appreciation Day and wanted to show them some appreciation. They had almost no guns left in stock. No 9mm target ammo. They did have .38 spc but wanted too much money for it. I ended up leaving without spending any money. At least I tried.

I have noticed that of the three LGs here that i go too one has no guns left and cant get any. They have a little ammo. Another has a few guns and fair supply of ammo for the most part. The third which is two blocks from the others has about any gun you want including ARs and almost any sort of ammo. Strange part is they arent any higher than the other two on anything.

My local gun store did the same thing, his reasoning was that you wouldn't buyl a car if there was no gas to buy and you wouldn't buy a gun if you didn't have the ammo to shoot
