    While the .357 sig round itself may work, the casing is actually a necked down .40.

    You cant fit the casing into a .38/.357 cylinder.

    So no, wouldnt work.

    PS.

    Didnt the makers of .357 SIG choose that name just because it was popular like the 357 magnum?

    It is impossible - you couldn't even get the cartridge into the cylinder.

    The SP101 if chambered for .357 Magnum could fire almost any rimmed straight wall pistol cartridge that is the same caliber. So .357 Mag, .38 Special +P, .38 Special, .38 Long Colt. It has a rim which sits on the face of the cylinder.

    The .357 Sig is a rimless cartridge made by reducing the neck size of a .40 S&W down to 9mm (.357). Any gun chambered in .357 Sig can only shoot .357 Sig and nothing else.

    SigSauer developed the cartridge in the mid 90s to mimic the performance of 357 magnum but out of a semi automatic.

    357Sig = 357 magnum-like characteristics but developed by SIGSauer

    It is basically a 9mm round but in a necked down 40 cal casing.

    No you can't. The .357sig is a necked-down .40 cal with a .357 bullet. It wouldn't fit. Also a semi-auto round is different than a revolver round.

    The only "stupid" question is the one that goes unasked.

    Only if it is chambered for it. You would gain nothing and lose the versatility of the 357 magnum.

    Since the .357SIG is a bottle-necked cartridge, wouldn't it be kind of problematic to chamber in a revolver?

    If I am not mistaken, the .22 Jet (a bottle-neck case design) had issues with set back that would tie up the cylinder. Wouldn't the .357SIG suffer the same vulnerability?

    If you had the inclination to have a custom cylinder made, it would probably be wise to use a single action revolver so you'd have an ejector rod, or else use some sort of custom .40 S&W moon clip....

    Either way the answer remains no.
