    Whatever shoots the best. If hollow points shoot well i like xtp i roll my own so generally i can taylor the load for the gun. I've got a couple that i use FMJ in but if buying store bought fodder i also like the hydra-shock line. Not the best or most modern but they work well enough to stop from going through the target and injuring innocents

    What fees flawlessly in my carry gun while still meeting my minimum performance standards (in penetration, expansion, independent/standardized test results, my own testing results).

    While that has varied occasionally as I have tried/tested various guns for carry duty, my choices have been:

    • In 9mm, that has almost always been the DoubleTap 9mm JHP 124gr +P, or the roughly equivalent Speer 9mm JHP 124gr +P.
    • In 380ACP, that has almost always been the DoubleTap 380 JHP 95gr +P, or the Remington Golden Saber 380 JHP 102gr.

    My preference for .45 is Speer Gold Dot in 200+P. It's a great mixture of weight and velocity.

    OK, here goes...

    .380 = 95 gr FMJ-FP

    .38 Spl = 158 gr SWC

    9mm = 124 gr +P Federal EFMJ

    .45 = 200 gr +P Federal EFMJ

    5.56 = 62 gr Hornady TAP

    12 gauge = #1 buckshot

    .30-30 = 170 gr JSP

    In a pinch, anything that goes "bang" will do.
