The .256 is still made by Winchester and Hornaday makes a 60gr bullet to reload for it. On occasion I have found ammo at the gun shows and it generally runs around $35 fro 50 rounds. I have the .256 Contender barrel also, was great fun in California for shooting rock chucks and in Oklahoma for prairie dogs I have a set of form dies and can make my own brass by necking down .357 brass. The cartridge itself was designed for the Ruger Hawkeye single shot designed in the Ruger Blackhawk frame, only about 3500 were built are quite pricey if you can find one.
