Does .45acp do strange things?
I have heard the people have seen their .45 bullet do strange things like bounce up a hill behind targets.
I have also heard that the .45 can bounce off a skull.
Are these true?
Does the .45 do strange things like this?
Does the 45 do things like this more than a .40 or 9mm?

Re: Does .45acp do strange things?
Pretty much any caliber can do strange things, like bounce off (probably not "bouncing" but deflected) a skull, it's a round hard object and there are documented cases of projectiles not penetrating it.
Trying to figure out which will do more or less strange things is impossible.

Maybe not "strange"...but pretty darn cool... I was shooting some steel last week with .45 FMJ. One of my rounds zinged off the top edge of the plate, making that really cool movie sound effect. About 4 seconds later I heard "thud", as it falls right in front of me. That sucker woulda hurt if it landed on my noggin.
Otherwise, I dont think .45 is any more or less weird than any other round. Its an object at high speed slamming into another object. All bets out the window

Funny, that is almost just like a golf shot I had years ago. Nicked the top of the women's tee and a few seconds later landed a couple yards behind me.
I've not seen 'strange' jumping from any .45 i've shot

I was shooting a .25 cal gun at a pine stump one day when I felt a sharp pain on my shin. Turned out one of the bullets bounced back and hit me. The .25 gun then came off my list of defensive options.

When I was privy to information on shootings as a cop I have heard of many rounds doing unusual things. I have seen cases of hot loaded .40's fired at near contact distance traverse the skull underneath the skin and not even chip bone. Had reports of a small framed women being shot in the forehead with a 158 grain .357 that went through & through, and was sitting on her couch when the paramedics arrived....they asked if she was okay and she stated she had a headache. NYPD supposedly has a case on record where an officer killed a polar bear with a single .38 lead round nose at a zoo when it attacked a worker. And there is at least one account of a man killing a grizzly bear with a .22 Long Rifle that I know of. So yes, any round can do strange things!

45s probably do no stranger things than other calibers, but so many people shoot them and they are pretty big so the odd things that happen may be more easily seen.

I once shot a target from 15 feet that had a steel bar behind it. That round hit the steel bar and came right back and landed about 3 feet to my right-front. Never saw a .45 round do that before. It hasn't happened since. I believe I was shooting a Glock 36 at the time. Funny thing is that I could clearly see the bullet coming back towards me and saw right where it hit.

It is a great round for body piercing and is time-tested in that capacity!

Back in the 80s we had an indoor range that would hold man v man bowling pin matches, series of 8 man single elimination matches. I was shooting against a buddy of mine, I had 3 of my 5 pins down when I see something coming straight at my right eye (he was to my right) and just had time to raise my head slightly when one of his bullets hit me in the mouth, right over the right front tooth, split my lip and loosened the tooth for several days.
The only thing we could figure is he was shooting FMJ and I had seen he had spun the pin he was shooting at, the bullet must have gone under the plastic skin of the pin on the side instead of a square hit, did just short of 180* spin when it came loose, flew over and hit me. I kidded him about for a couple years "I ever tell you about the time Jim tried to kill me? Yea, shot me right in the mouth; but I just caught it in my teeth and spit it out". I put a screw eye in the base, got a gold chain and wore it as a necklace for a while, great conversation piece at the bars.

Of course .45 does weird things. Haven't you heard a .45 round to the pinky will rip off a guy's arm, and make him backflip across the street?
Well, that's what die hard .45 guys say...

It (45) has the strange ability to influence my carry choices.
No internal lock or magazine disconnect on my pistols!
