So Frustrated! Spent all morning--no ammo.
I'm down to 2 boxes of 9mm, so I won't be shooting my new CCW pistol until I get more ammo.
I started the trek this morning at 8 am.
I went to Dick's, Wal Mart, Gander Mountain, Rural King, Olde English, and Dayton Armory, and no one had 9 mm. Waited 1/2 hour in the cold outside of Olde English, but there was none to be had, even though I was first in line.
Wednesday, I hit 5 stores including Bass Pro Shops, and came up empty.
I've got to quit spending so much time on this ammo hunt. It's making me crazy.
I've got a good stock of .38 and .22, so I guess that'll be what I take to the range until something changes, although I'm nervous about that, since I might not be able to resupply after those stocks have dwindled.
Ugh.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Yep! I hope that things level out soon for all of us. I spoke with a police distributor I have known since I as a young cop about this. He stated his Remington Sales Rep told him it would be sometime in the mid-summer before he thought they could have enough in the system. Hopefully things will improve.......soon!

I feel your pain. I did the same thing and came up empty. I can get ammo at the LGS if I want to pay $25 per 50. I'm not willing to do that. I am new to the gun world. Guess I entered at the wrong time. Hopefully things will improve this summer. Then we can get back to more normal prices. I don't even want to know what "normal" was a year or two ago.

Just use your 38 or 22 for a while. Before you know it there will be some available.

I was lucky enough to score 3 boxes a week or so ago for $14.99 each locally. I'll wait.
Unfortunately, I went to the range this week and worked through the break-in period on my Kahr.

Try Welcome to GUNBOT.COM. Several people have said they have found ammo through them.
Oh yeah, you could try Alamo Ammo - they only ask $129 for 100 rounds of 9mm.

Yea just read the news there are a few red necks buying it all up some how these few people have enough cash to buy it all before it ever hits the stores.
Obama and DHS have nothing to do with it the money they are throwing around is just a drop in the bucket.
Wonder why such a demand? Even if a hand full were buying it all they would need to turn some sales to make the profit. It is not happening.
Supplies are tighten cost goes up.
You were warn through out the election this was coming if you did not listen who is at fault?
I have plenty and did not pay these prices for it no it is not for sale.
Just wait for the new taxes on it. you voted for him.

My problem is that I got my CCW in March and bought a lightweight 9mm to carry, and now can't find ammo for it. I have ammo for the guns I had a year ago.

Todd, if you practice with purpose, you can get some good quality practice in without burning up a bunch of ammo. With as little as 20 rounds a week, you can practice if you be specific in your goal.
For example, draw and fire 1 round at a humanoid target at ranges 3-15 yards, for a total of 5 rounds.
5 rounds of weak hand practice 3-7 yards.
5 rounds from the draw with strong hand with no support.
5 rounds from weak hand with no support hand.
If you want to shoot 25 rounds, just add 5 rounds at 25 yards slow fire.
This will give you quality practice with a minimum of rounds covering all the main basics you need. With it being focused and purposeful, it is better than just blowing a hundred rounds a week just shooting.
This will make 2-50 round boxes give you 4 weeks of purposeful practice. You can supplement it with dry fire and be very well practiced.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Time + gas = $$ and you still didn't get ammo

If the initial process decribed above was endured to get that ammo for $14.99 then it did not really cost $14.99

Glockman thanks. I'm going to try this with me and my wife. While I've been able to find plenty of 40 and reload for my 357, finding 9 for my wife has been tough to say the least.
