    Opinion on Hornady HAP?

    I don't usually shoot steel case ammo, but a LGS near me has a massive quantity of the steel cased Hornady HAP in 9mm, .40, and .45. What is the story on this ammo? I watched the Hornady marketing videos and it is clear that they are directing it at competition shooters. I'm not a competitor, but I'm having a hard time (as are many) finding range practice ammo these days. The HAP is a hollow point bullet but it priced at like $27 for 50, so roughly the same as UMC. I'm not involved in reloading so that isn't an issue, I know it is Berdan primed (as is all steel ammo I think?). What is the verdict on this ammo?

    FYI, it will be shot from an M&P9c.

    As far as I know Hornady HAP is just a Bullet line, Not an ammunition Line. So If you are seeing steel cased HAP it seems like it would be a handload.
    A strange handload to say the least. Hornady is high quality and steel cased ammo isn't so enless im in the dark on something it sounds like someone threw together a Frankenstein load to fill a void in ammo stock...?

    I should clarify, yes it is a bullet line but now also a full factory cartridge load from Hornady:

    Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Ammunition :: Handgun :: Choose by Caliber :: 9mm Luger :: 9mm Luger 115 GR HAP® STEEL MATCH™
