My policy has been to have at least 1000 rounds of each caliber. When we go to the range, I start hunting for more ammo to replenish what we fire at the range.

Yes, it is a problem. My ammo is presently in surplus military .50 caliber ammo cans and most (30 cans) is stored in a four shelf steel doubled walled with lockable doors Haz Mat container.

I have reached the point where I do believe I have enough ammo and will only shoot and replenish what does not fit in the Haz Mat container. I have not purchased any ammo, for myself, since July 2012 and based on my present shooting regiment should have enough to last through October/ November of this year. At my age, 75, I am quite sure I could not expend what I presently have before the man calls unless the SHTF.

My stockpile is growing.....woot...woot....LGS has lots of ammo in lots of calibers...Tonight I went to Gander Mountain and they also had much more than they have had in the past....What really surprised me was they had about 30 boxes of Federal 124g HXT on the rack...(when I left they only had about 22 left. They did not restrict me....woot woot..

Check back in about 4 weeks....My utility building/ammo storage dump should be in place.......LOL

I wouldn't even attempt to do it right now, but in the last ... whenever I shot 1 box, I bought 2 boxes.... that way it would build up over time. Also caught the sales. Glad I did.

More than enough to start and end a small war. Both Social and Reloading supplies. I have been stocking up since the 1990's in small batches every payday. You cannot go buy out a LGS or some other supplier. Small amounts over time amount to "Enough for the Long Term".

That's been pretty much my strategy for a while, too. Lately, though, it's more like, "whenever I can buy two boxes, I shoot one!"

I keep one round of .22lr. I figure by selling it I can retire some day.

The local Scheel's actually had small pistol primers today! For $35 per box/1000! I don't need 'em that bad.

I don't stockpile.....I much prefer the term of obtaining a "tactical market share".....my shares in the market have a target range of about a case for each caliber.

I have since changed my "Hoarded stockpile" to "Standard basic load". By the way I wore the 101st in peace and war for many years.

For handguns I try not to get below 1500 rounds of target ammo for all my calibers and 500 rounds of defensive ammo for them. For my rifles I like to have at least 500 rounds for my 30.06 and 2,000 of 7.62X39. Shotgun 400-500 rounds of 00 Buck. Try to keep at least 2000 rounds of .22 LR on hand, but running low on it.
