What do you feel is the best advanced HP design on the market?

As practitioners of defensive pistolcraft let's set aside the "Caliber Wars" for a moment and discuss bullet technology. More specifically the advancements that have been made over the years that have given rise to the multiple choices of hollowpoint designs we have today. What is your vote for the best hollow point design on the market today and why? I have selected 6 of the "Big Name" manufacturers with their respective product designs and 1 "Wildcard" slot for you to nominate your pick. Share your thoughts and experiences on your "Pet Load".

You and me both! I've been looking for 9mm Federal HST 147gr, but couldn't find any locally, so I ended up with Speer Gold Dot 147gr.

The Gold Dot is a good load and nothing to sneeze at. Around my neck of the woods the 147 grainers are easier to get than just about any other sub-sonic 9mm. They do punch deep and hold together better than a whole bunch of similar loads on the market.

It's hard to set aside the caliber or even the bullet weight.

At a certain point, all of the "major" manufactures have at least 1 high quallity ammo for self defense. After that, it becomes personal preference on weight, caliber, etc.. My only advice would be stay away from the sheap stuff. There is a lot of informaiton about the performance of all of the differnt types, weights, calibers, of the "top" bullets.

    Other.

The Barnes Tac-X solid copper HP. Loads by several companies.

I think HST is a very close second, though, with Gold Dot, Ranger-T, and Golden Sabres all in contention for that spot as well.

I checked Hydra Shoks and use them in my EDC but I have/use SXT's in my sometimes carry M&P 40. Why Hydra Shoks? Because when they were purchased they were consider the latest and greatest and it is hard to justify switching to another round when you have several thousand rounds of it. I also have 150 rounds of Black Talons and 1,000 plus rounds of SXT's and they should do the job if and when used, hopefully never.
