Interesting article. So, the bottom line of his stats is that unless you are shot in the head and you can make it to the hospital, you are likely to survive.

That is assuming you are NOT shot in Memphis and have to be taken to the Med. /sarc off

If you happen to find yourself in the lower percentage of people who do die from a GSW, the larger percentage of those who survive is meaningless.

I'm allergic to lead, so I guess I fall into low percentage category of surviving.

I think I'll just do my best to not find out which category I would fall into if shot!

    Highlight summary:

    a. If you are shot you have an 80% chance to survive.
    b. If you are going to die, you are probably going to die on-scene.
    c. If you make it to the ER alive there is a good chance (43%) you'll even sleep in your own bed that night.
    d. Head shots appear to have more than twice the lethality of non-head shots.

This will be of great comfort should I ever engage in a shoot out.

It depends on the ER. Around here there is at least one id be afraid to go to with a burned thumb for fear of not surviving their medical expertise

That sqeeky wheeled cart they tote you around in? It's from all the pressure washings to get the blood out of the now obviously greaseless wheel bearings.

    Thanks for the summary.
If I am ever unfortunate enough to get shot I will keep my hopes up.

    Right.

So, considering there are several gunshot wounds that could take someone out of the fight rapidly, but may take hours, or longer to be fatal, you're going to wait that long?

    Good luck with that.
