    Good for Beretta?

Hey there everybody. My friend is getting a Beretta 85 sometime soon. My question is what self-defense cartridge would you recommend? I read up that Cor-bon and Federal Hydra-shock are best for this pistol. But I would like to hear from y'all.

    Beretta

My girlfriend owns an 85f. We fired both the Hydra-Shok and the Gold Saber into wet newspaper. Both expanded. The Gold Saber held together very well, the Hydra fragmented a bit. My gut feeling is to go with the Gold Saber for the better penetration, good expansion, and better momentum to cycle the slide. Your guess is as good as mine. I thought the Cor-Bon was loaded a bit hot. As it was her first semi-auto, I passed on that load. I tried the Silvertip in the past (to be honest, in a shorter barrel) and most did not expand or under-expanded with most tumbling rather than mushrooming. Might be better in the long barrel.

this has been covered before...i'm a CorBon guy myself, but you really can't go wrong with any of the name brand self defense loads.

Thanks for the advice everybody. After we went to the gun store to look at the Berettas, I might actually get one myself. He is like me, small hands. Be loved his Glock but wanted to see whats out there and so he picked up this Beretta. I am going to try to get this one for Christmas, hehehehe.
