Question Shipping primers to private party (California):

I would like to sell 500 primers in the near future, and I'm confused as how to interpret the laws on shipping primers. The USPS site says they're illegal to ship?!

...but I see discussion that says otherwise.

    Kind regards,

Primers are considered HazMat and thus have to ship by common carrier, ground only. USPS won't touch it. So you're going to get whacked with a fee of about $28 on top of the regular shipping.

You're better off selling face-to-face locally.

Read up on ammo restrictions that might exist, by the time you sell. Consider California's push toward ammo registration and restrictions on sales/imports of ammo and components: California Rushing Headlong Toward Draconian Gun Control.

    U can't... Unless u r a business that has a hasmat shipping license from ups/FedEx...

U can't just drop them off and say..hay this is hasmat can u ship it?...

Your choice is don't tell them what it is ..illeagle...
Find a company that will do it for u... Good luck...
    Or don't ship...

    Back when primers were 90+$ 1000, I "sold " quite a few....

Yes, that makes complete sense. ...but primers are legal to sell from a private party standpoint, right?
I'm asking because I have an RL-550b reloading maching and before I sell it, I need to know what to do with the left over components that would make the equivalent of 400+ rounds of .223.

You can sell anything you can legally buy,as far as selling 400 primers and about a pound of powder you'd need to do it locally maybe craigs list since it won't justify the expense to ship it anywhere
