+1 on double tap making a 380 round, can't wait. Agree with most everone here, winter carry should be a 9mm or better and a 380 as a BUG. I love my kel-tec P3AT, best deep concealment gun I have ever owned but I wouldn't trust it against multiple layers of clothes. But if that is all you can carry it is better than throwing rocks! DPX 380 is a great round, I alternate Remington FMJ and DPX in my P3AT.

Get a J-frame load it with 38spec.158 lswc-hpP+ for any season. The 380 is weak anytime.

Opinions on this differ , and mine differs with yours LOL . Having shot a bit of both from small handguns I will go with .380 over the old fbi loading , or any .38 special out of a snubby . My " carry snubby " is a kahr pm9 tho and i stoke it with +p fodder . IMHO the only reasons to drop to .380 are that 1. you cant afford a 9mm of the same size as the .380 package ( reliable ones are not cheap ) and 2. the seecamp- kel tek guns that are the size of most .25 autos . If i were a revolver guy i would go with a 9mm snubby or .357 and practice with either 38+p or standard 9mm and then carry the 357 or 9mm +p+ Kind of like we used to do with the mod 19 smiths lol .

as far north as I am , I would not use even FMJ .380 in the winter.

It is my understanding that generally most HPs clog their little mouths on thick clothing and proceed inward acting a lot like hardball so that penetration is not seriously sacrificed.

    I carry a 44, 38 or a 380 depending.

My winter gun is a G36 45acp. In heavy winter garments if the 45acp gets plugged up its still a 45cal 230 pumpkin roller and very able. Where the 40sw and 9mm plug up and fail the 45acp shines in the freeze belt be it Detroit or the Yukon. ANd the 380 oh well!
