SD Ammo choice for Glock 30

Specifically looking for what 45 ACP ammo others are carrying in the Glock 30 for SD? Mainly a truck and bedside pistol but is carried on occasion.

I have Federal 230 gr. Hydra-Shok "Tactical" (which appears to be and chronographs the same as regular old Hydra-Shok) in mine.

    It's a .45.

Choose a good 230gr load that your pistol runs reliably, and that you like the control and accuracy it delivers in rapid fire.

I carry Winchester PDX1 230 grain in most of my .45 ACP handguns. It is reliable and accurate in my guns. It is what the FBI uses. It is at the high end of .45 ACP ballistics, without going to +P ammo.

For Duty-Grade, I used the thicker copper jackets, since I would need to be able to defeat intermediate obstacles, such as auto glass, etc.

Now, that I'm retired from LE, I prefer a more rapid expanding bullet jacket like Hornady Critical Defense, Speer Gold Dot GDHP 'for short bbls' (which means a thinner jacket).

I use both in my SD sidearms, but my 9s, .40s, .45s and .38s are all +P rated. As a Trooper, I was issued Speer Gold Dots GDHP for my Glock (in non+P).

I like the Speer Gold Dot, but I've got a box of Golden Sabers too. Hornaday Critical Defense fed well in my G30. Frankly, a 230 grain FMJ still makes me feel confident.

Pick a round from a modern, reliable manufacturer that has empirical data on performance and carry it. chasing the perfect bullet is like chasing a unicorn.
I carry 230 gr hydra shock.... its been around a long time.... and many a bad guy has fallen to to it. Thats good enough for me.
