    Hornady .45 +P 200 gr TAP FPD

Anybody familiar with this ammo? I bought it on the recommendation of the manager at my LGS. I, of course, am familiar with Hornady Critical Duty, Zombie etc, but I'd never heard of this particular ammo. I usually research everything I buy (anal like that), but I figured what the heck and rolled the dice on this stuff. I also picked up some Speer Gold Dot .45 +P 200 gr (which was the reason I went there in the 1st place) so I won't feel so bad if this stuff isn't quite top notch.

I've tested that in .40 and the results were terrible, some failed to expand and others only partially expanded, I'm not a big fan of the hornady product line... But anything is better than a FMJ...

TAP is good through glass, wood or sheet metal and then into the BG. Good LE round. From the tests that I have seen, penetration is about the same as Gold Dot.

I'm very partial to the XTP bullets. And I have tested them on a variety of medium and large game with excellent results in a variety of handgun calibers.

I have never used TAP bullets, and don't intend to, unless they are made available as a reloading component.
But I am sure for defensive purposes they should work fine.

It's too bad Nosler doesn't market a defensive load with their superb bullets.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

TAP is the XTP bullet in a nickel case.

And Nosler recently released loaded ammo in defensive pistol calibers.
