Corbon 10mm 150 JHP out of Glock 29

I recently obtained some Corbon 150 JHP to try in my Glock 29 SF.

    Chrono average for 5 shots: 1,222 fps / 497# KE / PF 183
When fired into gallon filled jugs of water it fragmented, but still made it into the 4th jug, recovered diameter varied .55/.60/.64

How does that compare to other 10mm loads fired from my 29?
    Hornady 155 XTP: 1,278 fps / 562# KE / PF 198 / 4th jug @ .68
    Hornady 175 gr. Criitical Duty: 1,077 fps / 451# KE / PF 188 / exit 3rd jug @ .64 - .65

The 155 XTP hits higher than my POA, Critical Duty was closer to my POA; with the 150 Corbon, the POI & my POA are a perfect match, very important.
Additionally, the 150 Corbon produces the least calculated recoil, but almost 500# KE.

I am pleased with the Corbon 150 JHP out of my model 29, new carry round.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try some of that. I have been getting some of the Hornady CD 175 gr from Cabelas.
Love my 29sf, there is no better cartridge for sd on a pistol.

    Thanks.
I got some more of the Critical Duty too.
I liked it almost as well as the Corbon and I wasn't sure of the availability of the Critical Duty in the future.

Those all seem on the weak side of what the 10mm should do.
Get some DT and stop wasting time with over the counter pills

    yes......

    10mm 150gr Nosler JHP 50rds.
This load is an excellent choice for carry. A solid choice for a middle weight 10mm round.

    Caliber : 10mm

Bullet : 150gr. Nosler Jacketed Hollow Point.

    Ballistics : 1475fps / 725 ft.lbs. - Glock 20
    1400fps Glock 29

    Box of 50rds.

Its even slower than the old Border Patrol 40 S&W load of the 155 JHP @1250fps.

If KE was my only concern, then I would try DT, Underwood, or BB, but all of those (as you implied) are hotter than what I've tried.
My priorities are a combination of placement, control and KE.
Power Factor = bullet weight x bullet speed / 1,000
The Hornady 155 gr. produces a PF of 198 out of the Glock 29 and that is all I'm willing to tolerate.
When I shoot double taps, I require both shots to hit a 6'' circle at 6 - 7 yards in order to count for average split 1st - 2nd shot time.
Using the Hornady 155 gr. my 1st - 2nd shot average time (using the above criteria) is about 1/3 second; I do not want to increase that.

I'm of the opinion that the majority of shooters are unable to shoot using a timer (range restrictions against fast shooting) and have no clue as to what their 2nd shot follow up time actually is. So, for many the allure of loading up with the hottest load available is only tempered by their subjective impression of whether it kicks too much or not. (I know that you are not one of those people)

Aside from recoil, is the issue of POA / POI and hotter / heavier ammunition would have a negative effect on that desirable quality.

Therefore, I do not think I am wasting my time by selecting ammunition that sacrifices maximum KE in exchange for other benefits.

If you like shooting ammo with .40 S&W specs out of your 10 mm more power to you. I bought a 10 mm to shoot the real 10 mm ammo but it is not for everyone. Has been known to cause orgasm:)

I prefer Winchester Silvertip 175 grain 10mm in my Colt Delta Elite or Kimber Stainless Target II. I prefer Buffalo Bore or Underwood 180 grain JHP 10mm in my Glock G20 SF. If I want more velocity from the Glock, I drop in a six inch factory barrel.

Bumping this old thread because I'm considering my load preferences for a G29- both for EDC and woods carry. I've got DT 200 gr. for woods carry, and may consider some Buffalo Bore too. For EDC I think the Silvertip 175 is a great option, but even "watered-down" or "over the counter" 10mm will suffice against a deviant two-legged.

My 180gr Gold Dot loads are at 1283fps(20 shot averages). But I've always been a heavy for caliber fan.
