    Ammo use....

I was just gifted some 9mm ammo, about 250 rounds, but I for the life of me do not know what firearm
this stuff can be used in. It was one of those "I found this stuff in the basement of the house I just
bought, and thought you might be able to use it", kind of things. It is 9X17 mm.
Any one know what it is used in?
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Nice man .. If you want post a photo or write down what the base said maybe we can find a maker for you .. Sounds like a euro round if it is 9x17...

Brass tip or steel ? If steel this might be rare ammo as most any steel core ammo can ban a while back (never see any but you never know..)

That ammo is in short supply, and high demand. If you cant use it, there are lots who can. Congrats.

I just came back to check if there were any more posts on my question, and discovered I miss typed the size of the ammo in question. It is NOT 9X17 as I posted, IT IS 9X18. My Bad...... However WrongRecroon asked a question and I found my error.
I went to the basement and pulled a box of this ammo that I now have in front of me so I make no future errors.
    SIZE 9X 18
    MFG. NORINCO
    C.O M. CHINA
Case is marked with a number 71 and Number 93, and case appears copper in color.
So we start again as to what does it fit? Thanks again in advance for the help

Makarov Pistols (great guns), Polish PA64, CZ-82.

I love the Makarovs, especially the East German ones.

They list two different ones. I am guessing Makarov, but you might want to measure them to be sure.

Every gun in my avatar uses it. 9x18 Makarov--it was the standard for Soviet and other Commies.

(clockwise: Czech CZ 82, Polish Radom P-64, Hungarian FEG PA-63, and Pistolet Makarov (a few different countries made Makarov pistols--mine is Bulgarian)

Also, not pictured: Polish P-83 "Wanad".

There's a few other firearms that use 9x18 too, to include submachineguns and even a revolver. However these are most common.

I would save some man that is rarer ammo .. All china ammo save shotgun ammo was ban from import along will all guns save sporting shotguns in the 90s .... It is good stuff non corrsive as I rememener

But DO NOT fire it in any gun that fires 380 or 9mm it will not work all that well... This is the round 918mm Makarov - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    all these handguns use it

    Makarov PM
    Stechkin APS
    MP-448 Skyph
    ČZ vz. 82
    FEG PA-63
    P-83 Wanad
    P-64 pistol
    R-92
    OTs-01 Stechkin (RSA)
    OTs-27
    OTs-33
    Fort 12

The story with the round is it a middle ground round above 380 and close to 9mm.. The story I hear is so NATO could not use Russian ammo for there 9mm handguns in case of WW3...

Most Mak will fire the round just check some are in 380.. You can also rebarrel them in 380

You can get a mak for oh 200-300 bucks if it is a common model.. The E german ones are very very nice

    Russian_military_Makarov_small.jpg

    Makarov.com - FAQL

CZ 82 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia this is very nice one too the mags hold 10-12 rounds

is this what you have ?

Norinco_9x18 Photo by videodon | Photobucket has a couple photos of mak

They are fun little guns a lot of people carry them for SD .. But as I said try to save some of the ammo there is no more handgun/rifle ammo from China so

9x18 Makarov has some for like 12-13 a box

If only you were local my local gun shop has like 5 mak for sale

also there is a hollow point round 9x18 Makarov

Here is a vido of Hick45 shooting one

Hey at least it is not 44 auto mag ammo or gyrojet ammo

I say vet66 you should buy a few more boxs and pick up a nice old Mak for 200-300 buck they make a just dandy plinker/truck even carry guns .. Heck the Russian used them from what 51-91 so you know they should go bang ... Plus the 12 shot model make a great truck gun imop cheep enough so if it takes a dive no worries

I almost got a E German myself they are some of the harder to find now but are well made I hear and regarded as some of the nicer looking Mak out there .. But even a plan Jane commercial Bulgarian is a just fine gun ...

Agree! I carry mine and trust them completely--NEVER a FTF out of any of them for me.

All except CZ 82 are single stack and nice and thin. 82 has most capacity and best trigger, especially in DA, but also wider. The 82 also has polygonal rifling.

The P64 and PA63 both got new springs from Wolff to tame recoil and help with DA trigger pull. MUCH better now.

P83 is the sleeper of the bunch, and my favorite. It shoots great, feels great, and is really accurate.'

Even though the surplus stuff has become scarcer over the last year, P-64s, CZ 82s, and P83s are still available from folks like J&G, AIM Surplus, CAI, and/or SOG--all mid-$200s

These are fun, rugged little weapons!
