Had an interesting problem at Bass Pro today...

The problem being, "which defensive 9mm brand do I choose?" There were so many options for once that I actually had a choice. They even had 380. I ended up going with the Federal Hydra-Shock that I have already been carrying in 9mm and 380. It was a good day.

If possible go with a newer design. HST, GoldDots, PDX.

I carry Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel in the Nano and it goes BANG! just fine. If in the unlikely (hopefully never occurring) event I have to send those rounds into a live target I'm confident they'll do what they're designed to do and hopefully that will be sufficient to keep me alive. I don't spend too much time worrying about defensive ammo...I figure that in a life-or-death situation being able to put ANY bullet into a target is already a good position to be in, and defensive-designed frills and furbelows only strengthen that position. I pick something with a good reputation for reliability that won't break the wallet when I put some boxes of it through the gun to be certain it runs, and get on with my life. There's a lot of other people who look far deeper into it than that, and respect to them for being thorough and often pointing out important things for me to be aware of.

This is not uncommon right now for me it is easy to find HP ammo for almost any caliber and flavor the hard part is finding cheep bulk pliking ammo...

    Cough Gold Dots Cough...
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Winchester Ranger T, the afore mentioned HST or Gold Dot, or Golden Saber. Any of these I'm comfortable with. Fortunately, my Gock 19 and Smith M&P feed all of them.

I also run Speer gold dots in both my carry weapons ,165gr 40s&w and 124gr+p 9mm. Have never had any issues with this round in any weapon. 1st hollow points I bought were hornandy critical duty and had some feeding issues with them in the 40 so I got rid of them at my following range trip and have never looked back.

The Gander Mountain here has plenty of bulk ammo but the prices are too high. I spend a heck of a lot of time on the net trying to find the cheap stuff. As far as HP ammo they have it to but it's really priced crazy.
