.45 ACP necked down to .40?

I was at an IDPA match this weekend, and we found some .45 ACP brass that looked like it had been necked down to a .40. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Me too. I have heard of the .400 Corbin before but have never seen anything chambered in it. Am I correct in that maybe its only a few custom guns?

The 400 Corbon is an interesting step child in the ammo arena. With the same powder load 400 Corbon comes out with less energy than a 10mm. Both use the same bullet but since the necked down 45 ACP brass has more volume, less pressure is generated, thus less energy. Hand loading takes the 400 Corbon a lot of places. As stated above, a 45 ACP can be converted with a barrel swap. 10mm is 10mm.....

There is a difference between the 40 super, and the 400 corbon. They are not interchangeable, and I don't know the difference. Lone Wolf lists them as two separate barrels.

Probably what others have said, the .40 Super, maybe .400 COR®BON, but there have been a number of necked down .45 ACPs in the past.

I'm not sure where the brass begins with the 40 super. It is slightly longer than the 400 Corbon and thicker walled. The 400 Corbon will accept up to 165 gr bullet, since the 40 Super is longer, it will take up to 200 grs. Mute point, can't really see a need for either, just a want....
