Great find at the gun show today...

I've always wanted a box or two of the infamous Winchester Black Talons for collector value, but I refused to pay the prices these things bring online.

I stumbled on 7 boxes in mint condition at the gun show today, and it really is true that cash usually talks the loudest during the last hour of the final day of a gun show.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you have to give for them? Are they all 9mm?

Heck if you find Hirtenberge or true baned ammo then we can talk ...

Guy local to me was selling some of this in 9 45 and 10mm plus some insane ammo that was banned from import as it was rifle only handgun ammo and well people were not told that .....

    Is it all 9mm ?

And yeah great find ... Just dont go to San Fran with that it is banned by name to own or have ... So yeah its got to be evil ...

I would like to collect banned/scary ammo .. Just for the heck of it ... You will be surpise how much ammo we can no longer get in this country esp handgun rounds.. Back in the 60-80 oh boy was there some good stuff coming in ...

Thanks, everyone; this was my best deal at a gun show in years.

    No doubt!

But if I find any of that stuff, you won't see a picture of it posted on the Internet!

Less than $1.33/round after negotiations; I'm stoked!

    It is all 9mm.

They are, but Winchester stopped production of them due to the media blowing shi.. I mean stuff... out of proportion. They are not Teflon coated nor AP, as rumored. The black coating prevents barrel fouling, nothing more.

Yep the stuff just looked and sounded scary ... but if you want true scary ammo ... tumblr_mu1qfvwvqQ1qcqs80o1_500.jpg or hx5dg4.jpg both legal to own and fire (save CA) but nasty stuff .. Both will breach last I heard cars and light armor heck the way I hear it the hirt was made as sort of a AP/glaser round to breach car screns and still deform on impact is that true well I dont have car screen and dummy handy to tell but I know the stuff is at or pushing +p+ maybe +p++ so ....

And I know one was banned from ever being imported again and the other is no longer made

http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=99006 has a bunch of images of banned ammo ... Really now any steel cored handugn ammo ( Ie anything that a handgun can or has fired including 7.62x39 308 and 223 ) is baned unless made pre the officer saftey act last I looked ..

But still I like black talon for the box and the neat coating ... Fun fact the rifle ammo they make still has the same black coating and all just called something different now

The successor to the Black Talon was the SXT line. The alleged inside joke at Winchester is that SXT stands for "Same Xact Thing" - minus the ominous black color and scary marketing.

I thought that the SXTs did not have the black Lubalox coating?
