If I posted somewhere ammo for sale does the transaction have to go through a FFL?
Also how do you mail the ammo, lea gal to use post office.
I sold a couple guns but still have boxes of ammo
You shouldn't have to go through an FFL to ship ammo, but you will have to use UPS or FedEX, the USPS won't ship it; must be afraid an employee might figure out what it is and use it.
Is this ammo you bought and don't need, thus trying to get rid of it? Got surplus and trying to make a buck? Ammo you reloaded?
A one-time sale is no big deal--generally. Reloading with intent to sell requires licensing. Planning on making some side money selling any ammo may require a business license if nothing else. Other than a one-time sale, anything repeated can put you into the "business for profit" category.
Unless I am wrong dont you need a FOID to buy ammo in IL .. So not sure on shipping it .. Out of state may be ok ..
IMOP unless the ammo is rare or pricy it is a massive pain to mail it ... I been reascring how to for a while as I have a lot that I need to sell .. You need a ORD M sticker on it as well
