I'm looking to add a few cases of 5.56 to my hoard. I'm considering PMC XTAC or surplus Bosnian green tip. They would be shot from mini-14's. Both of these cost .40 cents a round shipped. If your life depended on one of these rounds which would you choose?
Thanks for the link. Their shipping is on the high side. Price shipped is .38 cents a round. I'd save $50 on 3000 rounds.
Still looking for input on the green tip surplus VS PMC XTAC.
Came out .44 cents per round with shipping for me. Not a great deal.
I shoot with a pistol and a Canon. We must all hang together amigos, or we will all hang separately. NRA life member.
X-Tac K or X-Tac X?
I assume K, since you are comparing it to 62 grain M855 equivalent. Really, I can't imagine there is any real functional difference. Either one should be fine for what it is.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
Not sure if I've ever run the Bosnian stuff, but the X-Tac 62gr ran about as well as LC M855 surplus I have shot...that is, it is decently accurate, and reliable.
I'd say, go with whatever you can get for less.
