    Where to Buy Ammo

I will be taking a two day tactical training course early March and have been told that I will need 2,000 rounds of ammunition. I will be shooting 9mm. My question is what do you think I should buy for this and where can I get the best price? I don't have any experience buying range ammunition because alll of the ranges in my area of Florida require you to buy their ammo. Thanks.

I'm curious about the amount of ammunition required. It seems like quite a bit compared to other pistol courses I've looked at, especially for a two day course. Gunsite only requires 1000 rounds for their five day class, two day courses from Suarez and Ayoob seem to average about 500 rounds (varies slightly depending on the course). What exactly will you be doing that will require so much ammo?

I've ordered from Natchezss before, good prices, can't remember how much I paid for S&H - think it was $30.

Ammoman has free S&H, but costs more than Natchezss (comes close to same deal when you add up Natchezss' S&H).

Is a good place. I've made several orders through them and never had a problem. Lots to choose from.

Good question. To be honest, I really don't know. Only that that is the amount of ammunition I was told to bring. It is Frank Garcia's Universal Shooting Academy, in Frostproof, Florida. I understand that he has a good reputation among the shooting community. I have not officially enrolled yet, so am open to suggestions.

I've taken Randy Cain, Gabe Suarez and Jim Crews courses. Each was 3 days and ran an average of 7-800 rds. I'm aware of some other courses that folks burned 1500 rds in 3 days. Always abide by what the instructor tells you that you'll need, they know their program!

    Try Georgia Ammo or Wal-Mart.
I don't know where in Florida you are but where I am (Manatee) our ranges let you bring your own.

Natchez just started a special - $6.89 per box of Federal 115grn AE FMJ.

I am in Palm Beach County, and all of the ranges within any travel distance from me have adopted that policy. So, the choice is either buy the ammo from them or don't shoot. Pretty crummy situation, but those are the choices.

I wanted to take Randy Cain, but his current schedule did not work for me. I realize that 2,000 rounds over two days seems like an awful lot, more then any other course that I am aware of, but, as you said, abide by what the instructor tells you, so that's what I will do.
