I thought they were all HTP if placement is correct.

The Remington HTP loads the EXACT SAME THING as the previous "Express" loadings from years past, be it a traditional cup & core SJHP, SJSP, or LSWC-HP. The loads were often duplicated in UMC budget lines, like the .38 Special 125 gr SJHP +P referenced here. Remington has NOT redesigned all of their bullets, they just decided to call them something new for enhanced marketing.

Aren't these the rounds formerly known as Golden Sabers?

No. The Golden Sabers are now known as Ultimate Defense.

Are they still exactly the same?

They come in a pretty new box, that's about it.

I knew that GS was now being marketed as "Ultimate Defense," but I'm curious to know if the new UD "Compact Handgun" line is just more of Remington's gimmickry or is there REALLY a difference. Anyone try these in .38 yet?

BTW those Buffalo Bore FBIs mentioned above are AWESOME! They're more akin to a .357 round! The recoil is brutal and follow ups are a little more of a challenge though. As long as you make the first shot count, they'd certainly be a man-stopper.

When I was a .38 Special user, it was Buffalo Bore for anything above "normal" power.

Ultimate Defense and Ultimate Defense Compact Handgun didn't test so well in 45 Auto. I don't feel compelled to test the other calibers after seeing these results.

I received my order today and went out and shot 5 of them and they do have just a little bit more kick but not enough to be concerned about, still very manageable.
