Buffalo Bore 38 spl. + P 158 gr. swc hp

I tried out this ammo today in my S&W Airweight:

    (rated for +P)

No Chrono, But it's hot. They advertise 1000 FPS in a 2 inch barrel with a gas check to stop the leading that occurs sometimes. I usually carry Federal 125 gr JHP +p, but this stuff recoils a good bit harder than that load. One thing I wanted to check is that heavy loads in light weight revolvers with heavy recoil will sometimes cause the bullet to move forward in the case on unfired rounds, sometimes far enough to cause the cylinder to jam. So after the 4th round I opend the cylinder and the I could see where the bullet had just barely started to come forward. So, it's a go for my carry.

Do you have stock grips? I imagine your hand is a still a little tender.
I know little on the subject so I'll speak at length.

Like the LSWCHP 158 standard pressure for my 642 and the 125 gr JHP they put out for short barrels works good in the SP 101 snub

You should use the Buffalo Bore® Standard Pressure 158gr LSWCHCGC (#20C/20) in your Airweight® as it was specifically developed for Ultra-Lite® guns.

Why? The +p is faster, and it works.

I carried those for a while in my 642 but switched to 135gr+p Gold Dot short barrel rounds. I found I could get the follow-up shots on target faster and more accurately. Its a great round for snubs. I also find the jacketed hollowpoints don't get dinged up as much in the speed strips or speedloaders.

The BB +P clocks at 1000 fps in my LCR and 640. It is not much fun to shoot, but 360 ft/pds out of those little guns makes me pretty happy.

That is a warm load, when I had a 3" SP101 these clocked around 1100 fps which is smokin'.

That BB +P round is exactly what I keep in my 642.

That BB FBI load is the stuff.

I keep it in my k-frame HD revolver, but load my 642 carry piece with 135gr gold dots.
