    Ammo issues.

    All,

Last week, I finally got a much anticipated shipment of ammo I really wanted to try,
    135gr Nosler JHP
    165gr Gold Dot JHP
    180gr Gold Dot JHP
    200gr Hornady Controlled Expansion JHP

Sunday the wife and I finally got some range time so the anticipation really had built up. The range had some good results and some bad results.
    .40 cal Ruger KP944-
135gr Noslers and 180gr Gold Dots shot flawlessly. Feeding, extractions and groupings were good but with only shooting 50 rounds of each I need to shoot another 200 rounds or so to get a good accurate feel.

Unfortunately the 200gr had some major feeding problems. Out of 10 rounds 3 miss feeds and a major jam occurred.
It took a cleaning rod into the barrell (live round) and a good amount of body weight to unjam my pistol on the last one.

I shot 20 of the 165's with no miss feeds, but I shot them before the 200's so after the jam with the 200's I inspected the rest of the rounds and also found the 165 casings showing the same casing disformaty so I didn't shoot them any more.

Well after the JAM, happened I examined the rest of the 200's and found that the casings are wider (about half way down the casings) on the top than they are on the bottom. It seems to be pretty consistant in all the 200's and upon inspecting all the rounds the 165's exhibit the same deformation. Now I'm not a reloader but it looks like they were pressed too hard.

I wrote to the supplier I got them from and I hope it all works out in the future. The big thing I learned is to INSPECT all ammo while loading. I've gone this thousands upon thousands of time, and it just goes to show you how complaisant you become while doing such a simple task. I'll let everyone know how it all turns out.

Well, I liked the rounds that actually worked and they shot well. And I know that not everything in this world is perfect. I'm still waiting for Mike to get back to me and get something resolved on the issue. I'm going to call him today cause I havent gotten any answers to my emails to date.
