    Federal HST price increase

I only recently became interested in Federal HST, and purchased a few boxes (9mm) from Streicher's. I paid $16/box of 50.

A few days ago I noticed their price had increased to $17 per box.

Last night I looked again, and it's up to $20.

    The .40 S&W was $18, now $21.

Very annoying. Wish I'd bought a massive load of it while the price was lower, but it's too late now. Just a heads-up.

FWIW, their Gold Dot price does not seem to have increased in the same period of time... so I don't know if this HST phenomenon has been due to high demand for that particular ammo, or a supply shortage, or what.

Seems most prices just keep creeping up across the board.

Haven't used HST to notice that specific price but just aware that costs are sky-rocketing, even to extent of WWB 9mm price going thru the roof.

My practice ammo surplus is dwindling down and having to stock up I too have been noticing the price increase on both handgun and rifle ammo. It doesn't look like it is going to be getting better anytime soon too.

Yep, certainly there is a general increase which has been much-discussed.. for instance, the WWB FMJ was $12.88 a few months ago, and a couple weeks ago I paid about $14.56 or thereabouts for it.

I wanted to single-out the HST price increase because a 25% jump in a matter of a week or two is bordering on insanity.

    Market Forces

When I first discovered 9mm HST (~2 1/2 years ago) it was $12.50/50 on the shelf locally. It went to $24.95/50 within a year and then came back down to $18/50.

Striechers (sp?) was ~$15/50 last time I ordered (last year). All ammo is going up and HST is in very high demand currently.

    So much for that.

Gold Dot was $20, now $24.

    Sigh.

    "Going Up!"

I have been busy buying as much as I can in various calibers...

Each month the 'boxes' have increased several dolllars...this is bad news...but the reality of capitalism...

Buy up now guys (and gals)...it 'ain't' going to get cheaper...

Even my batteries for my SureFire have almost doubled during the last 18 months...bought plenty of them too!

The shop keeper here told that the Fed. HST's and Rem. Golden Sabers that were on the way were going to be priced in the upper $20's...for a box of 20. YIKES!

    Hmm...

    http://www.ammoman.com/webstore_9mm.htm

$159/500... HOWEVER, when they used to have an image up for this load there was a label that said something like "not for law enforcement use" which makes one wonder if these are "factory seconds" or something like that. Could be the same situation with Outdoor Marksman.

P.S. Do you have a link to the OM page with that price? I didn't see it on the site.

At least the $23 HSTs are in boxes of 50. I wish streichers would get some back in stock.

Dosen't say anything about "factory seconds"...the bulk shoot just as well as the boxed Speers 124gr Gold Dot Hollow Points
