I finally did it.
Today I finally broke through the $1 per round threshold.
I bought a few boxes of COR BON Pow'R Ball in .40 from a little Mom and Pop, cost me $20.95 per box. I could feed a .50 caliber for that money. I'm sure it's cheaper online but I was passing and I like to show my face in there, I always support the little guy when I can.
But wow, it's like when gas hit $3, or the first time I went out and the bar tab was over $100.
And although I don't have one it makes that bumper sticker 'Driver carries less than $20 in ammo' redundant, seeing as the gun I bought the ammo for takes 15 +1 with 15 in the spare mag.
Oh well, you have to buy ammo.

Well, the good part is you supported a momandpop and you got some of the best carry ammunition on the market (IMHO). The price pain passes quickly.

This is the definite downside of carry ammo - the pure cost.
I am fortunate that at a gun show a ways back I managed to get a 1,000 rounds of Speer GD 124 - so far it has been 100% reliable. I use that for part practice and gun feed tests etc but carry ''full price'' stuff to ensure max reliability.
I am thinking the big batch was a ''reject'' batch we hear about but as said - so far over 350 to 400 rounds it has been all good. I doubt any rounds will fail.

Is the Cor-Bon Pow'R Ball pretty good stuff? I've never carried it before. Safe for a Glock 23, I presume...$20.95 per box...20 or 50 rounds?

It does suck to get "sticker shock" when buying ammo doesn't it?

Yeah, I haven't shot any of it yet so I'm not carrying it, but I really like the concept of the Pow'R Ball.
But the price was certainly another reason to invest in handloading equipment, not sure I'll ever carry my own HPs, there's arguments against that, but rolling all my FMJs would leave me more money to buy decent carry ammo like this.
I bought 40 Pow'R Ball in .40 at $20.95 per box, 20 Cor Bon .32 JHPs at $13.95.
Cost me just over $60 for 60 rounds after tax.

No. It has consistently exceeded maximum allowed pressures in every caliber since its release and endangers both our safety and that of our firearms.
PS I know this rubbish has a tremendous following. Prove me wrong, but do it with HARD science. I'm right and I know it.

Well I don't have hard science, but I have never had a problem with corbon in my 23.
$20.95 a box and your complaining? I can't remember the last time I paid under $25 for corbon. The last batch I bought was $32 for some 10mm, but I have to admit that those were the bonded core hunting loads. They cost more than my rifle ammo. Needless to say, I don't use a pistol to dispatch a wounded animal becaus the it is "cheaper" than my rifle ammo.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

Yes and no, I'm not complaining that I paid a buck a round for that particular ammo, I wanted it and had a choice not to buy it. But I'm just kind of complaining that ammo is creeping up in price.
I guess in my lifetime we'll see $50 boxes of 50 9mm FMJ.
