Maybe a ray of sunshine at last.

Our local Mao Mart has not had .22 rimfire on the shelves in such a long time that their sign (no .22 rimfire) has actually turned yellow ! Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching a clerk unpack a CASE of Winchester .22 LR in 100 round boxes.!!!!!

Maybe I am now a "hoarder" as I bought 3 boxes ,even tho I rarely shoot .22 rimfire.

I buy .22 all the time and have been able to find it fairly easily lately.
I'm glad that you have finally found some!

The only time I've seen 22lr anywhere they have been at a price I refuse to pay. My 22lr are no longer for plinking until availability and prices become reasonable. Right the small supply I have are reserved for Squirrels.

I stopped asking for it a long time ago. The clerks would usually finish my sentence anyway and say they had none.

.22LR in 100rd boxes. What are you saying, that 500rd bricks are tough to come by, these days?

Strange, that the low availability has lasted so long.

Been false or fleeting rays of sunshine before. Around here the Walmarts are very familiar with certain customers who show early buy it all and then sell for double or triple price to the gullible.

Same here. Every gun store I've been to from MI to GA has had plenty available. Not even concerned about it anymore.

Local Cabelas had a TON yesterday - $10 per 100 rds....

I guess the shortage has made it so we are willing to pay top dollar for something that was $10 for 500 rds a few years back?

The Coming Crash in Ammunition Prices - The Truth About Guns -- an article written mid-2014.

Metal prices have already fallen from the highs of the bubble. Copper and lead prices are far lower than they were. You will know that the bubble is close to the bottom when you see .22 LR on sale for below four cents per round. At their lowest, we might just see .22 cartridges below $10 for 500 again.

^ Wouldn't that be nice. Back to where it should be, if production were sufficient for demand.

Fixed it for ya. When I can reload 38's cheaper than I can buy 22's I don't buy 22's.
