    Lightbulb Restrictions on Ammo

This may be a dumb question, but I never really thought about it, since I live in a pretty unrestricted State. But I'm getting ready to fly to Georgia and was wondering.

Is there any type of ammo that is restricted in some States?

Like JHP are they legal in all states?

How would I find this out?

I do believe that NJ outlaws HP ammunition for carry, expanding FMJ is ok though. From what I can tell, that's the only statewide ban.

I searched the PDF's on handgunlaw.us for the terms "hollow" and "jhp" and that's all I came up with.

Other than NJ I havent ever heard of any other state with a bann on certains types of ammo (with the exception of teflon coated bullets but thats federal too). However their are several countries that prohibit JHPs and some even prohibit 9mm/45ACP because their military rounds.

Fortunatly for the NJ folks....Cor-Bon made their PowerBall ammo. Might not be as good as the best JHPs but its better than ball.

Is New Jersey still part of the United States? And if so, why?

My buddy, a NJ LEO, came by my house and we looked at some of my guns. I cleared a gun from the safe and he saw the JHP. He said, "whoa, those are illegal." I said, only across the Delaware and in the Peoples Republik of New Jersey. He got a chuckle out of that one.

It is pathetic in NJ. Even as a NJ LEO, he has to get a permit to purchase a handgun. Un-freaking-believable.

Pretty sure there are no restrictions there for teflon or even AP. All of that is taxed at the MFG level - if you can chamber it, you can carry it (except HP in NJ!)

I have some teflon (all hype) and exploding bullets in the safe. Certainly not the thing I'd be carrying on the street. I don't want a bullseye on my butt with a hot DA targeting me!

If that is indeed the case, I'd love to find some FRAG-12's. I sincerely doubt that is a possibility, though.

    Exclamation God bles USA

You folks don t know how hapy you are out there,in the USA.
I live in Croatia, one of the republic of former Yugoslavia.
In Croatia,if you want to buy a weapon of any kind, procedure is like this :
    - go to Police, ask the formulars on which you are "beging" the State to think about alowing you to buy a weapon.
    - must become a member of some Shooting Club for at least 6 months ( without a weapon, ofcourse) or become a hunter.
    - to become a hunter, first you must go to school and hunter practise for 1 year period.
-During that time,Police is cheking you, your familly, and next of kin.
-Asking your neighbours what are they thinking about you and do they agree, that you have a weapon,as they neighbour.
If anybody say anything about that is not nice,Police is stoping everything.
-when Police finish with you, they are sending you to a medical examination, which is in the level of fighter pilot medical examination.
-If you pass everything, finish the school for a hunter, and of course, pay all the cost ( with school and med. examination,it is around 900 Euro) they still have discretional right to deny your request, without explanation.
If you are lucky and they alow you to buy a weapon, let say a revolver, tax on the weapons in Croatia are enormous.
    Example :
    S&W 60 in 357 Magnum cost in Zagreb 9.000 kuna(1500$)
    Glock 19 cost 7500 kuna (1300$)
    SAKO 75 cost 13.000 kuna ( 2.250 $ ).
Let my add that in Croatia, normal selary is around 550-700$ for a month.
And did I mension that in Croatia to carry a weapon of any kind is strictly forbiden.
If they find you with a gun, they are taking your Weapon permit and all the weapon and you must pay a penalty off 30.000 - 50.000 kuna (5.000 $ - 9.000 $ )and after this,in this life, forget the weapon of any kind.
During one year,Police is coming in "gun control" twice.
It means, they can nock on your door when ever they want,365 days in the year,24 hours day, when ever they want, and if "they think" you are no longer "apropriate" to have a weapons in your house, thay are taking it away.
If all your weapons is not in Gun Vault, separated from the ammo, you are F...d !
There is always a posibility to ask help, from a Justice Deparment, but, when did you ever hear that State stand up against State it self ?
Now,do you see in how great Country you guys are leaving ?

I'm pretty sure that AP is outlawed in Michigan.

Kaligula... It is a great country we live in. I used to live in another country and it had very similar restrictions and prrices on firearms.... I feel your pain
