Wow, not even here!
This is a discussion on Federal Tactical Bonded within the Defensive Ammunition & Ballistics forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; Anyone tested the Tac Bonded line? Are any departments carrying these? Are they comparable the the HSTs?...

I have several boxes (165gr, 180gr and 230gr +P)that arrived after I posted this thread. I still haven't tested them out yet. The local ranges don't allow us to fire at anything other than paper, so my tests will just be for accuracy and compatibility with my weapons.

Well I fired several boxes of Federal Tactical Bonded rounds today, and I'm impressed.
I was expecting the 230gr +P rounds to be a beast, but they handled very well out of my USPf .45 and USPc .45. They fed and fired flawlessly, and were very accurate. I was also impressed with the very small muzzle flash! The Tactical HydraShoks 230gr are flamethrowers!
I also fired some 165gr Tactical Bonded and HSTs through my USPf .40, and was equally impressed with the accuracy, reliabilty, and lack of huge muzzle flash.

I was at last able to get to the range. I took some Federal Tactical 230 grain +P .45.
And I took some Ranger 230 grain +P .45. I fired them in my H&K USP.
It functioned perfectly, but I don't think I will get anymore. For close range home defense, I will give up a little recoil for faster follow up's and more accurate shooting. I am going back to the standard pressure gold dots for HD.
The +P stuff will become range material for practice.
The ammunition does function well and is very accurate, but it is not for me.
Do you have the fullsize or compact USP.
The Tactical Bonded rounds in 230gr only come in +P. I've never fired Gold Dots, but I've heard nothing but excellent things about GDHPs! The LEOs in my area carry Gold Dots. Right now I'm carrying either Federal Tactical Bonded or Federal HSTs in both calibers that I carry(.40sw and .45acp)
I forgot to mention... Another round I have but forgot to take for testing is the Hornady TAP 230 grain. It is not rated +P but the numbers on the box says
muzzle velocity is 950 fps which is +P speed. This and the other rounds I tested
aure suppose to have a flash suppresent to reduce muzzle flash. This hornady is suppose to be the best. It might be a good night home defense round.
