    collectible ammo?

was surfing around the 'net, looking at different HP ammo. i came across listings for 'Black Talon ' from winchester. i read about it, why it was banned, and all the rest. when i tried to find out more about it, i came across some sites that sold it as 'collectible' or a 'collector's' ammo. "get 'em now, before they're gone!" most of them read. this got me thinking: is there such a thing as ammunition that can be considered rare, strange, exotic, or fancy enough to be sought after by collecters? i'm a knife collecter, and i know many of you are gun collecters; is there a market out there for ammo collecters? just a thought...

Not sure if there is a market per se but yes, there is little doubt folks do collect. I do in a small way but I doubt there is too much that will make us millionaires!

I have a few real old rounds and I keep them more from interest than any thought of making big bucks ......... but if some ammo is obsolete or hard to find - gotta be worth tucking a few rounds away for future interest.

I don't know how popular they are these days but manufacturers used to make display boards with a wide variety of their cartridges on them. I imagine if you find some factory loaded ammo that is obsolete or discontinued for some reason there would be someone out there willing to pay for it.
