.357 Sig in a Short Barrel
I don't want get into the debate of .357 Sig vs "insert other here". In my research I have come across a lot of that.
I do however want to know if anyone knows where I can find some information about how they preform out of a 3" to 3 1/2" barrel? The key to the .357Sig's performance is velocity, and you can loose a lot of velocity with a slightly shorter barrel.
Thanks!

Not counting actual performance(subject for review), but 357Sig will beat the hottest 9mm out of any barrel.
I love he 357Sig, have them in Sig P229(Limited Ed & Sport) and HK USPc.

Do a Google search on 357sig, it will find a whole bunch of hits. There are a couple real good technical pages on the first page or two that comes up. One of those may have the specific information you're looking for.

I have looked at a lot of links, all of the tests I can find though are all from 4" barrels. :(

I have read, and I'm still trying to find the resource, that you only lose about 100fps in .357Sig, going from a 4" barrel to 3" barrel. I carry a Sig P229 (3.8") in .357Sig...to be honest, I'm not worried about the loss of velocity.
The Texas DPS uses .357Sig (in the P229) and has nothing but rave reviews for it so far.

But others carry the 357 Sig (in the P229) and have less than rave reviews of it. Works great when you need to punch through a car door to get to someone, but when six out of nine center hits go through and through and travel 60 feet down range, thats no good.

fed_wif_a_sig,
Just curious if you know what brand of ammo was used in this example.
And is it a common complaint? If so why do you think several law enforcement agency's are going with them?'
Thanks!
