    Turkey shoot (exactly)

I've never hunted turkey with anything other then a shotgun, but I'm going varmint hunting soon with a .223. If a Turkey walks in front I was going to take it (if I can by law).

My question is Do I body shoot them or go for really really really small head shot to avoid meat loss.

Head shot is really really hard on a turkey.

I never used anything but shotguns for them either (Here in Alabama shotgun is only legal gun to harvest them with). I think a .223 will not leave much meat on the bird

i know a few places here in P.A. you can use a rifle for turkey's and the one i shot and the 6 others i know that were shot with rifle, they were all shot at the base of the neck. where the body and neck join. it is fun and most times you dont need to worry about the head as it sometimes disapears... with my 220 swift it does.
