    Recommended ammo for KelTec P3AT

Picked up a KelTec P3AT at the gun show today for my BUG/pocket carry. I'm looking for suggestions as to which PD ammo to use in it. I kept being told Winchester Silvertips is what KelTec recommends. Has anyone else heard this?

I picked up 50 rounds of the Silvertips and 20 rounds of Federal HydraShocks as well. Looking for feedback of your experience.

    I have a P32, no P3AT yet.
But for my .380 carry ammo in other guns I chose Cor-Bon Pow'R Balls. They feed just like regular FMJs.

I run the silvertips... the Hydrashocks did not feed properly to me.

Personally I dont pay a lot of attention to ammo for any caliber . For the .380 i just assume that its most likely to behave similar to ball no matter what it is . With that in mind it seems that nearly anything made by cor bon will work better than nearly anything else . I would say tho pick a load that your p3at likes , and spend a lot of time shooting a butten sized spot at 10 yards and under .

Just don't use magsafe, the new boxes of ammo should have stickers on them saying this but the old ones don't.

I've been using the Win flat point FMJs, but thinking of trying the Ranger-T SXTs.

I have no problems with most FMJ in my P3AT, usually WWB or Remington UMC. Blazer no so good.

I run Corbon DPX +p. From what I have heard the P3AT was the test platform for the round. Though I have yet to personally confirm that.

Unhappy Keltec Says No to +p Ammo in 3AT

About a month I sent an email to Keltec concerning the use of +P ammo in the 3AT. They told me to NOT use +P ammo in the 3AT.

Actually I assumed the Corbon where +p but actually it appears they are not.

Heck, I've been using standard Remington ammo, with no problems.

Well, I went to the range and shot it today. I am very suprised at the accuracy of this little gun! I shot it at 3,7,& 10 yards, 100 rounds total. No one single FTF, FTE anything. I shot probably 50 rounds of ball ammo then finished the rest with Hydrashocks and Silvertips and all shot with 100% reliability.

I'm impressed so far. Looking at the target, I have (4) rounds in the 8 ring (CHL silhouette target) (8) in the 9 ring and the rest are in the 10 and X ring. That's darned impressive for a gun this size.
