.38 cal +P
Hi;
I'm new on this web site and tried to find the answers so...
Can you kindly answer the following questions?
I have a nation wide permit and carry a 4" .38 that can handle +P.
1 - What is a good self defense round that I can carry in New Jersey that are NOT hollow points.
2 - what is the best defensive round including hollow points.
3 - what is a good +P round that is cheap for practice.
Thanks
Crackerjohn

The CorBon PowerBall ammo is exactly what I'd carry in New Jersey if limited to the "ball ammo" rule. Another option is Glaser Safety Slugs Silver, but I'd check the law to make sure its ok. It has the ball ammo design, but not knowing the specifics of the law I'd check.
Also, if I lived in NJ, my defense weapon would be a 45ACP definitly unless I physically couldnt handle it.

Best all around hp for my .38s' is the 135 grain Speer Gold Dot. Try several different brands until you find the one that's most accurate for your revolver. All the top brands will work well when needed.(Golden Sabers, Ranger, Hydrashock, Double Tap) If your Federal LE then NJ hollow point ban shouldn't apply to you.

Just out of curiousity, what is a "nation wide permit"?

Just don't go to NJ; that'll solve your problem there. There's 49 other states to go to; why waste your time there? (Might as well stay out of IL while you're at it.)

Was sorta wondering that myself.......
In .38 +P I favor 125 Double Tap or 135 Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel Load.

I missed the "Nation Wide Permit". Now I'm real interested. The only nation wide carry authority I know of is federal agents, other than that no state issued carry authority covers all of the nation, unfortunatly even for officers and retired officers some jurisdictions prosecutes them for carrying. NYC lost the case, but the officer lost a bunch of money defending himself. I hope he sues the sock off them.
