Best Defense Ammo for Glock 19 (9mm)?

I am currently using Speer's Gold Dot 124 grain but would be interested in hearing everyone else's opinion and rationale on the matter. Feel free to include "specialty" ammo...

The best is the one that goes "BOOM" everytime you pull the trigger.

I have SXT's and Corbon for my 19. They have functioned flawlessly. I have never had a particular reason other than that my father gave me about 500 rounds of it when he got rid of his 19 when we had both bough 23's at the same time.

9mm is not my first choice for self-defense, but if that is what I had to roll with my optimum choice is Corbon. From what I have researched and experienced, Corbon has had the most reliability while many others, including SXT's, have been inconsistent. I have not looked at any research in the last 3 or 4 years though so their could be some better ammo now.

I like Winchester Ranger T's, or Federal EFMJ out of a short barreled handgun. 124 grains, just like the 9mm was designed for.

Gold Dots are a good choice. That's what I have in my G19 and they are accurate and reliable.

CorBon 115gr +P or +P+. Speer Gold Dots are good also and for in home, the Glaser Blue tips. I know personally that CorBon works, up close an personal I might add.

I use 124 grain Gold Dots. In fact I use Gold Dots for defensive ammo for all my handguns.

I also use Speer 124 gr Gold Dot's in my 9mm's, but I hear lots of good things about the Corbon DPX (copper) ammo.

It is just a little to expensive to test to my level of reliability satisfaction.

I have bought and tested some Corbon DPX and it produces some nasty ragged holes! The rounds I recovered look just like advertised on their website. (Talon like edges on expansion) I agree it is expensive.

I have carried the same as you: 124gr GoldDots for years in my 9mm's. My G19 is loaded with them now.

Well, if you really search around, the most spectacular thing I've heard about, was the (IIRC) Dynamit-Noble Geco BAT (Ballistic Action Trauma) round. According to all reports it would: penetrate Level II BA consistently; explosively expand, not over penetrate. Mas Ayoob liked it, and mentions it in at least one of his books. A friend who spent time in Germany in the service was also impressed, so, at least to me, it wasn't all gunrag hype.

"For real", I like Corbon 115-124 gr.

I have good things about the Speer Gold Dot ammo. Better yet I have not heard many bad things about it. I read that some earlier ammo had expansion issues but that has been fixed and the newer ammo can be identified by the silver color cases and it has six segments on the tip of the bullet.

I carry the 124 Grain +P rounds in my 26 and my 19. They shoot great, feed greet and I have recently found a great price on them so I stocked up.

I carry the Speer Gold Dot 124gr +p in my G19 as well. It has an excellent and extensive track record. I bought mine from miragetechnologies.net @ $18 per box of 50.
