Thumbs up Ballistic test of four different .45 rounds....(pics)

Well I did some more testing today with some varying rounds....I have been trying to find which round not only performs best ballistically, but which one my gun likes and so forth...so without further ado....

All rounds were tested in water at 350' above sea level....78 degrees....all at "defense" distance...(21')....all from a 5" 1911....

    From left to right....

230 gr. Speer Gold Dot Standard pressure.
230 gr. Federal HST Standard pressure.
    230 gr. Federal HST +P
230 gr. Winchester Ranger SXT +P

I am very impressed with the results of the Federals and will be switching to them from the Winchester. The +P HST penetrated about 6 in. further than the standard....While it deformed a little more...they both retained 100% weight....and since it has been said that testing hollowpoints in water generally provides the MAXIMUM upset of bullet construction....I am thinking maybe the +P would look in gelatin like the standard did in water?....either way....just thought y'all would be interested... I did purchase some of Federal's 'Tactical Bonded' also..which is 230 gr. +P but I didn't get to test it today...as I ran out of 'bad guys' (gallon water jugs)...before I was done....does anyone have any pics of testing the bonded? I also took a pic of the HST covering up a quarter...hmmm..impressive.

    Questions or comments welcome.....

I think any of these would do the job quite well!!!!!

    Outstanding!!

I would love to see what the results of the Federal Tactical Bonded rounds. Ive seen plenty of pics of HSTs, but I've never seen the Bonded in action. I mostly carry the Bonded rounds, but I rotate 230gr HST +P also. Seeing your pic makes me want to carry the HSTs more often!

You should test the Bonded when you get a chance! I wish I could, but the ranges around here won't let us fire at anything but paper!

    Para,

As soon as I can get back to the range, I will test those bonded and post pics of them here side by side with the HST's.

    Nice pics.

I wouldn't want to be the recipient of any of those projectiles.

    Para,

Nope, I haven't forgotton...I just can't get to the range very often. I am not sure when I will get my next trip....looks like maybe a couple of weeks. Sorry, but it's a slow process for me. I WILL be sure to post the results of the Tactical Bonded as soon as I get to 'test' them.
