    9mm Defense Loads

Okay, I have read you can get defense loads that the recoil is almost the same a standard load? Anyone with experience – please?

Also, which brands/ type selections are known for accelerated weapon wear?

I use WWB JHP. I doubt the primers are sealed or anything, but they're cheap and they seem to work for me.

Any +P or +P+ will accelerate wear on your weapon. I have found that, in 9mm, most guns can eat +P all day with no problems, but that's my own experience; yours may differ. At any rate, that wear acceleration would not be drastic. I use +P defense loads in my Taurus PT92. It has a mixture of about 1/3 +P and 2/3 WWB through it - and I've been shooting it for about 10 years now. I stopped the round count at 10,000 and have only replaced springs and one locking block with an upgraded version as the older ones broke at inopportune times.

If you're set on standard pressure, three good choices come to mind: Gold Dot, Federal C9BP (classic hollowpoint - very good record), and Federal's 135gr "Personal Defense" Hydrashok. This is labeled as "reduced recoil" last I saw, and it is mild in my gun.

    I hope this helps.

Another good choice for standard pressure self-defense loads are the Remington Golden Saber 124 gr. and 147 gr. They feed reliably in my Taurus PT111, with low flash and moderate recoil.

124 +P Gold Dots run fine in my SIG and feel very little different from std pressure versions.

I prefer the Win Ranger LEO ammo with 147 gr bullets. I also use the same brand with 127 +p+. But my Kahr P9 does not digest the 127 grainers due to the higher slide velocity.
FWIW I called Kahr and was told that it was not designed for +P+, but +P were alright.

I use the 127 +P+ in my Glock.

    Best,

In my G39 I use Federal 185 HST and recoil is mild. I use 124+p 9mm in my G26 Low recoil.

As for the first question most any non plus P HP load will have pretty much the same recoil as most practice loads.
As for the second question like others have already said pretty much any +P or +P+ ammo will accelerate wear.

That is one of the main reasons behind why I use them, the muzzle flash is very low compared with the untreated loadings, like WWB JHP or UMC JHP. The latter two loads have an immense fireball compared with the Golden Sabers.

The Winchester Ranger 147 grain (RA9T) are standard pressure, and are pretty soft shooting.
