Ammo going up again.
A friend of mine sells assorted stuff for shooters more like a hobby that provides income than a serious business and among the stuff he sells is ammo from Winchester, Remington and CCI. He told me yesterday that he was officially notified that the prices are going up 10 to 15%. Also, and he made it clear it was an unconfirmed thing, that Wolf will reduce his ammo presence in the US meaning that some of the calibers it carries will no longer available such as .308 and .223
The Wolf thing worries me and I already ordered some 7.62x39 more just in case.

The debate I was having about whether or not I should start reloading may have just been settled.

It's no longer "unconfirmed". Hold onto your wallets and prepare for the worst. Brass shot up a couple months ago. Lead just recently spiked. There is already talk of an early first quarter increase, in addition to the upcoming fourth quarter hike.

I am appalled when I see some current prices ... thinking back to 7.62x39 from gun show a mere 2 or so years ago - $80. It's now more than doubled it seems.
This is pretty much why I have even started including even 9mm in my reloading schedule ....... and my last 800 or so rounds of .223 I loaded, using just pulled bulk 55 FMJ's - saved me a bunch of cash altho tedious to do. Just glad I have been a brass packrat over the years too.

One of my clients is a gun dealer and said that Winchester is guaranteeing a 5% increase in September and again in January.

I purchased a new Springfield M1A today and was about to pull the trigger (pun intended) on an M1 Garand as well but then I thought to myself... self, you can't afford to shoot them. I have a father-in-law who loves to sit and reload all day. I think he may have just found a new part time job.

I'd be shocked if Wolf discontinues selling their 5.56 (223) in the US - they sell a friggin ton of the stuff! Every time I go to order it, all the on-line sellers are back ordered. Why would Wolf stop selling a product that is flying off the shelves? And they must make a good profit on it - it's not even brass cased- cheap, low quality steel cased.
I'll believe that one when it happens... on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised to see ammo prices in general go up - seems like it's been increasing the past 5 years.

I find this part hard to believe...

I 'm sure prices will keep going up, but I see no reason why Wolf would "reduce their ammo presence", unless they were under pressure from the US or Russian governments. Or if the factories no longer had the resources for civilian purchases, due to military demands.
