Water Denim test CCI .22 LR 5 Inch Barrel

    Hello,

I told a friend that I would post this for her on several gunboards which I visit regularly. She is new to shooting and this was her first ammunition test. I'll show her any replies.

    ***********************************************

I wanted to do a test with a .22 LR 5 Inch barrel. I wanted to compare the difference between water jugs and denim covered water jugs. Handgun was an H&R revolver.

Here i am holding the gun...

Here is the gun and a couple of bare water jugs...

Here is the shot on the bare water jugs. It went through and through. The expansion is unknown but is suspected due to the water splashing on me!!!!

Here is the 4- layer denim covered jug.

As you can see no expansion was evident...

...But as you can it exited with enough force to flatten itself against a piece of metal.

I'm new to all of this, so this was my first test. I enjoyed it and I hope you did as well!!!!!!!! ;)

close range? wheres the eye protection?

Good start though. Some numbers would be nice such as penatration distance, ammo brand, weight of bullet, design of bullet.

Its great to see someone new getting interested in doing reviews and helping out with the firearm community.

    KEEP EM COMIN'

They will get better as she gets more comfortable!!

As with all statements I've made and All that I will make, please check your local laws to verify accuracy. (and if i'm wrong let me know as I like to be right in the future) After all I'm just some goofball posting on an internet forum.

I'd like to see more of this sort of thing.

So tell your friend to get some freakin' eye protection so she can see in the future, and we can see more...

36gr CCI HP high velocity was the load.

I'm not sure why it's not showing up well in the movie, but yes, she had eye protection. She wears glasses - she's farsighted so she has to in order to see the front sight. The new ones she has are described as "indestructable" but just don't show up well in my home movies. I use camera internal memory so I'm limited to so-so quality on the movies (not on the pics though).

Once I get a removable flash card it will let me go to the "fine" setting on the movies and supply more detail.

Meantime, you might look for a small glint right where you would expect to see glasses as she turns away from me to fire. They were there, and I was surprised they didn't show up well at all.

I will give you that she probably should get side shields however. Until that time however I'm pretty sure I have some eye protection laying around here someplace that fit over glasses. I used to wear them myself until my eyesight actually improved(!) a bit and I was able to go without them. I now use standard safety glasses, but I'll do some digging or buying.

Ah- CCI Mini Mags - I've had great luck with those on squirrels - accurate and usually do a good deal of damage to the tree doggies.
