Well I'm torn.
I'm sold on the soon-to-be-mine 3" GP100. I've narrowed ammo down to:
CorBon DPX 130
Winchester Silvertip 145
Double Tap 125
I would LOVE to know more about the DT's expansion/overpenetration tendencies (hot load). I would looooooove for DT to be "my" ammo... I just don't know enough about it yet to carry it.
Any and all opinions or further recommendations are welcome!
Welcome. I can't speak for the Double Tap .357 ammo, I carry Remington 125gr myself, but they have great 10mm ammo. The owner is very knowledgeable, customer service is great, and I have never had a bit of problems with their 10mm stuff. Not even a dirty case or a scuffed bullet. As good as any "factory" ammo. I haven't caried Silvertip in years, but locally in the early 1990s it was the local PD load of choice and the moaned and groaned when they got 147gr 9mm to replace it. It had a good reputation. It expands and fragments in wet newspaper, if that helps. I mostly shot it in 4" guns. Cor Bon also has great quality ammo. I personally would rather have a bullet that expands and probably fragments a little. Don't know if I need a deep penetrating bullet in .357. I'd use their plain 110gr or 125gr JHP load without hesitation in .357.
One thing for sure, this forum will offer lots of opinions on ammunition choices. Good choice in gun, though.
