    Wolf Ammo Experience

Today was my first time using the Wolf brand ammo.230 grain hardball.I ran 200 rounds through my Para LTC 45 with 3 feed issues. The stuff was fairly accurate for the most part.Indoor range at 30 ft...groupings of 3 to 4 inches. The one thing I did not care for was the terrible smell and the awful amount of smoke. Also it took me twice as long to clean my weapon as usual. The red stuff from their primers was everywhere.... After the Wolf was expended I went back to UMC.Fired 100 rounds with much better results.Only 2 flyers and no feed issues. What say you all about Wolf????

I won't shoot it through any of my weapons..... In short, you get what you pay for

    It's better than nothing?...

I generally use it only in my AK and SKS rifles...I've used it in handguns with pretty much the same results you've outlined...

I use it in my East Bloc weapons. I tried it in my M1 carbine, won't again and my FAL, better than Indian of Pakistani mil surp.

The .22 rimfire is good stuff, but I don't shoot any other Wolf ammo.

I've had great luck with their 7.62x39. Their shotgun shells are pretty good, too. The brass-cased gold line is supposed to be pretty nice stuff. I would avoid the steel stuff in most firearms, though. The 9mm might be okay in glocks & CZs, but I've never tried it.

I've had good luck with the 5.56 62 grain FMJ in my AR's.

Seems to run fine in my SA Champ and my AR.

The 230 feeds perfectly in my mil-spec 1911. Yes, it smells terrible and it's dirty. I don't compare grades of dirtiness - the gun is either clean or it's not. Grouping is 3" @ 25 yards. It consistently goes "bang," hits its target and I've never had any FTF, misfires, hangs, stovepipes, etc., even after 100 consecutive rounds. I have better ammo for defense (Magtech GG 185+P), but if I ever needed to lob a lot of lead downrange, Wolf will deliver.

Be very very very careful with that stuff in an AR.

I've used it in my bushmaster and many pistols with no problems!
Others will dispute this but for me it allows me to shoot more often and longer.

All I'm saying is be careful with that stuff. Hi-dollar AR's can eventually have problems with that stuff. We have about 1 AR a week at our range get a stuck .223 wolf case in the chamber. Heard of a few Kabooms with that stuff too.

I'd say it is good ammo to have in the safe for a SHTF scenario, but other than that, I don't practice with it. It is too dirty as you found out.
