I tried some and it clogged and did not expand; others swear by it.

I haven't tried any "expansion" tests with them, but as far as accuracy goes, my 229 likes them almost as much as the Speer Gold Dots. These are my two main carry loads for the moment in .40 S&W in 155 gr.

Works great in my Slim Hawg. DOn't know about clogging/expansion. "Just go boom" every time with wonderful recoil & minimal flash.

Mike, I carry those or Speer gold dots in my XD9sc.

I haven't had any problems with either!

Have not tried the handgun ammo, but the Tap FPD 12 ga. 00 buck shells hold the tightest wad I have seen to date. The Mossberg is loaded with them at all times. Great home SD shell.

I've run the 75 grain .223 through my rifle. It's plenty accurate (even in a 1 in 9 twist barrel) and when I did a little water testing, it blew up the first two jugs and perforated the third.

    TAP

Did some expansion tests in wet newspaper with the .45 +P 230gr and 9mm 124gr TAP. Performance was good in the test guns, an H&K USP .45 and a Glock 19 and H&K P7 9mm. I personally prefer a expanding or fragmenting bullet and don't consider a bullet that breaks up or separates core and jacket a "failure" These were tough bullets that expanded moderately and were plenty long when they were done. If you prefer deep penetration at the expense of fragmentation, they worked fine. Shooting them at plain paper as well as paper covered by 4 layers of old shop rags made no difference in expansion. The dark case does feel slick. I think the chance of missing a round in the chamber because of the case color is mostly myth, the primer is still bright and the case isn't that dark. I got a good deal on the 9mm 124gr and keep a few boxes around as SHTF ammo. Two boxes of 25 rounds fill a plastic 50round MTM box that I keep with my stuff, and 25 TAPs cost about as much as a 20 round box of Gold Dot.

Only used the 60gr .223 stuff.

It was accurate, fed well, and absolutely devastated the water jug test.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

I use the 155gr .40 cal TAP, and it's gone bang every time. I've also recovered one round from a water test, and it was absolutely textbook 1.5x expansion.
