    What's This Stuff? Lawman Hollowpoint???

    Hello All,

This stuff caught my eye. I've never seen Speer Lawman in jacketed hollowpoint, just in solids for practice. Come to think of it, I've never seen it in +P either.

So far as I can tell CCI doesn't currently list it in their inventory, and I can't find it on the web anyplace.

It comes in a yellow plastic box of sturdy manufacture. This makes me think this stuff is "somewhat" older (don't want to offend anyone out there!) because I'm so used to ammunition coming in cardboard and styrofoam.

Can anyone give me any history on this stuff?

    Thanks,

    Josh <><

P.S. I'll be testing it, of course. J.S.

    Whatever it is, it's HOT!

It blew up two milk jugs after passing through four layers of denim, seriously disrupted the third, and penetrated well into the fifth jug and attempted to exit! I don't know if I want to be shooting this out of my non - +P Rossi too awful much!

It acted like a standard pressure 9mm - but out of a 2" 38 Spl.

You might want to use it in .357 pistol and not just a +P rated .38spl

Judging by the price, it wasn't manufactured any time recently...

I have some Speer Half Jacketed Hollow Point .38 and .357 "Lawman" It is older than that and in paper boxes. I think it is from the '70s my dad still has his guns loaded with it. I've shot it at the range and it is pretty hot.

    Ok

I just found a box. It is plastic like that but says speer in place of CCI and has the same Lawman insignia with the eagle but says Deputy underneath it.

    Good hot ammo.
Yep, that box is going back a little ways.
You should still be able to find CCI Speer Lawman.
    Lemme check.
    ???
A lot of places are offering up Speer TMJ Total Metal Jacket up pretty cheap these days.
Maybe the HPs are not being made anymore.

"Lawman" used to be their regular line, like Remington's "Express" or Winchester's "Super-X".

I still have a couple of boxes of the Lawman 200gr. .45 ACP that were called the "flying ashtray". They are some hard hitters with a HUGE hollow point. They were some of the best out there, but then they changed the Lawman over to ball practice ammo.

Why did they do this? When I was young and first began carrying about 10 years ago, the only gunstore worth going to at that time had a bunch of Lawman practice ammunition. I always figured it was defensive ammunition until I asked to look at a box. I remember being quite confused when it was all ball.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Josh <><
