another +1 for the 124 grain Federal HSTs , I shoot the +p in my Kahr P9 and also have 147 grain Winchester Ranger Talons for the same gun. As above poster stated I got mine at ammo to go. Fantastic customer service and fast shipping...

WOW! I shot some 9mm 147 gr HST's today and as before those heavy loads shoot POA. Next week I do some expansion test shots.

If you really get down to the nitty gritty.... I personally avoid the 147 grain (personal choice) I have heard (hearsay) that they have some expansion issues coming out of guns with real short barrells. Apparently, the 147 grain is more of a sub gun bullet
I have no use for the W-W Ranger T loads in 147. My department carries that load in any 9mm being used (S&W 5906, 6906). In actual use, we have rounds skip off of a auto windshield at an angle. I would not trust them to expand much unless they strike a fairly solid object. That officer changed over to the 40S&W very quickly. Right after that incident, the load was changed over to a 124 grain in that caliber. 9mm was phased out for any new officer totally.

    In my Glock 19 I carry either Speer GD 124gr +p or Federal Hydra-shok 115gr +p+.

I currently use 115gr Black Hills Express (Extra Power) for carry ammo. It's accurate, controllable, and potent enough for me.

I can also duplicate this particular power level with my handloads. This gives me plenty of far less expensive ammo to practice with.

    Opinions of 147gr defensive loads?
I usually carry Speer GD 124gr in both my XD and my Beretta. I don't use +P. The only accuracy problems I'd have I'm sure are entirely my own.

Might be your barrel and not the ammo. Speer 124 grain is well liked by LEOs and private citizens for self defense.
