    LTL Rounds

I was poking around a local gun shop today and saw less than lethal rubber buckshot rounds for sale.

My 1st thought was...why. If I pull out the 12ga then I'm NOT really looking to...sting someone.

Exactly right. A couple of years ago, a local sheriff's deputy shot a guy with a 12 gauge. Some idiot actually wrote a letter to the editor and said the deputy should have used rubber bullets to disable the guy.

The State bear management specialists hereabouts use rubber buckshot, bean bag & cracker shell rounds, along with Karelian bear dogs, for aversive conditioning of grizzly bears.

I agree, might have been good to keep the deer and elk out of the haystacks, but if I ever have to defend myself, it's not gonna be with rubber.

Well, rubber buck can make stairwells hell to be in, in a prison or school for instance. Generally, its application is Correctional, rather than LE/civvie.

If I had deer, elk, or grizzly on my property I don't think I'd be wanting to shoot them with rubber...

Rubber buckshot is good for riot control and not much else. No reason a civilian should own any comes to mind.

Only civilian reason I could ever see for using it would be the same reason you hear farmer stories about
    "rock-salt"............trespassers

My first thought was the same as yours. It can be lethal in some situations, so it isn't a toy. My shotgun is stroked with #4 birdshot. I'm thinking about going to a larger shot size, but just need to take time to shoot more shotgun.

Inside of ten feet that birdshot will expand to about 4" and that's a lethal dose from a 12 ga. I'm loaded with #2 right now but will move to 00 and/or slugs in the near future.
