Sellier & Bellot ammunition
Does anybody here have any experience of using 9mm Luger, 8.0 gram,124 grain FMJ Sellier & Bellot ammunition.
It's the cheapest ammunition available here at the moment and sells for €12.50 for 50 rounds thats about....( My American friends, you might like to sit down before you read this ) about $ 18.00 for 50 rounds. Yes I said $ 18.00 for 50 rounds.
I normally prefer to use Magtech, but being short on funds this week I settled for this Sellier & Bellot, after just a few rounds i noticed the casings being ejected were showing a lot of carbon on them. I fired about 150 rounds total and then sat down to clean my GLOCK 19. After just 150 rounds of this cheap garbage it looked as if I had never once cleaned my weapon. Im just wondering if there is perhaps a different standard for what is sold here and in the US.

S&B is good ammo. I use 9mm and .30carbine.
It is dirty but no more than WWB or UMC

I bought a whole lot a good while ago - 500 rounds probably - about $5 for box of 50 ........ and at one point blamed it for my 226 not running right. It was not the ammo tho - I had ''grease drag'' problems on the slide.
I am still using that up recently and it's certainly OK - but yeah not the cleanest. I'll accept that because it was cheap and it's OK for practice. I find the brass reloads reasonable too.

I have not used the ammo, but discovered and interesting fact about S&B ammo. After a Snubby class I policed up the brass and brought it home to reload. After cleaning the cases, removing the primers, I was priming the cleaned cases, using a primer pocket brush to clean out the crud and S&B was far and away had the cleanest burning(?) primers. FWIW
Anyone else run into this, and does it make a difference?

I've used it in the past with no problems. Hadn't noticed it was any dirtier than anything else, though. I don't shoot it much anymore as I have found less expensive ammo.

The few times I've used factory ammunition, S&B has been the brand and it's never failed.
With your local prices, it seems as if you may want to look into reloading (unless Ireland has some sort of law against it).
The Edge ... there's no honest way to describe it. The only ones who know where it is have gone over.

Absolutely great range ammo. I use it for practice exclusively (Centerfire Systems always has a sale), now that White Box is pricing higher and higher.

S&B is IMO right up there with all the other reliable range ammo: AE, Magtech, Blazer(*), PMC etc. I buy them all interchangeably...shoot any with confidence and buy whatever is cheapest.
CCI Blazer is usually the cheapest of all, but beware that some Glocks are semi-unhappy extracting them and also some ranges prohibit them.

I have not used 9mm only .45, and have had no problems. Works in my G21, and G30. I think UMC leaves more in the way of cleanup.

This is Ireland and we got Laws against everything, to reload, I would need a special re-loaders certificate, an explosives permit, yeah go figure and then I would need to apply for an explosives import permit.. that could take forever.
You folks have rights, stand up for them or you will loose them like we did.

I pretty much use S&B exclusively in my XD45 for the range. It doesn't seem to be that dirty and is reliable. The only FTF I've ever had was with WWB, which costed more than S&B.

My Taurus PT-92 hates S&B for whatever reason. I had a Beretta Cougar in 45 that ate S&B without any problems at all. I guess it depends on the gun.
