Trying to find a carry ammo (9mm)

IMO based on my internet research and test firing in my SA XD9 SC, Federal HST 147grain is my SD choice. Good luck!

I have switched to the FED HST in 147gr for my carry guns (Glock26, Kahr PM9 and Glock19). Here is a post from another thread (*you would be served well if you read the whole thread I took this from) that lists the best loads for PD.

The following loads all demonstrate outstanding terminal performance and can be considered acceptable for duty/self-defense use:

9 mm:
Barnes XPB 105 & 115 gr JHP (copper bullet)
Federal Tactical 124 gr JHP (LE9T1)
Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P JHP
Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP)
Winchester Partition Gold 124 gr JHP (RA91P)
Winchester Ranger-T 127 gr +P+ JHP (RA9TA)
Federal Tactical 135 gr +P JHP (LE9T5)

I currently carry Ranger-T 124gr +p in my G19 and PM9. Here's why:

Most stores locally carry Remington Green Box and Winchester Ranger... and that's about it.

Use the ranger ammo then, it is good stuff and if it works in your gun
don't worry about the other stuff. I've seen testing that showed
there is not a whole lot of difference between SD ammo, except hydrashok tends to come apart. Having said that, I'd still use it with no worries.

I really like the Corbon DPX in my service XD-9, but that said it is expensive stuff and I cringe if I shoot it for practice.

Try Double Tap ammo for some Speer Gold Dot loads at pricing you can at least practice with.

Double Tap Ammunition
