    9mm.+P+ Federal Hi-Shok -115gr.JHP- for home defense?

Three days ago I bought a Glock 19 pistol .
This gun will be used primarily for home defense & plinking at our local range! I am considering using : 9mm+P+Federal Hi-Shok 115 gr. JHP ammo! Does this ammo have a good street record?
With the right shot placement- How well will this ammo incapacitate someone who is threating my family with lethal force?

My next step is buying a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun!

    Thank-you for your shooter thoughts!

    Time to make the coffee!

    I'm not a big fan of +P+ but I like fedearl Hi-Shok.

IMO when you start increasing pressures you ask for problems. Try stanard +P and +P+. I believe that you will find little difference between +P and +P+ except in recoil and price.

The Federal BPLE has a great track record on the street. It's been around for quite a while but is still being used by some agencies because it works well.

Most premium hp designs will give good performance. BPLE is good stuff. I use 124gr. Gold Dot +P in my 19. Mostly because I can get it cheaper and it's easy to find around here. As for incapacitation, there are too many variables there but it will do as well as pistol can if you do your part.

it was our issue ammo for years. then we went to the 40 cal. i would go with it. for the shotgun a 12 ga remington 870 would be the best. but for the wife i would look for a 20 ga. she will shoot it more at the range than the 12 ga.
